Farewell to a good friend: Skip Miller
We were sad to hear of the recent passing of Skip Miller, a club member noted for his ready smile, friendly ways, strong cycling skills and can-do spirit when it came to volunteering.
Skip fought a valiant battle against acute leukemia, succumbing in November after pursuing every medical avenue.
Skip served on the CCCC board for five years as Safety & Education Director and also as Director of the Leelanau Harvest Tour. An avid cyclist, runner and cross-country skier, he was also on the board of the North American Vasa.
A dentist, he served with the U.S. Coast Guard, wrapping up his career in public health in 2016 and retiring to Traverse City with his wife, Carol. The couple have two grown sons, a daugher-in-law, and a grandson.
Our hearts go out to Carol, who was always at Skip’s side on their tandem rides and on the many times they served as volunteers. Skip’s courage and perseverance is an example for us all.
He will be greatly missed.
