Grants

December 2022

Bryce Dreeszen of the Friends of the Betsie Valley Trail accepts a check for $2,300 from CCCC President Jim Pecott and Vice President Rick Venner. The funds were generated from CCCC grant funds to purchase a Bike Fixit Station at the Elberta Trailhead and from a grant to the CCCC from the Ironman Foundation, given in recognition of the CCCC Volunteers who ran the bike check-in corral at the Ironman in Frankfort last September. The Friends will use the Ironman generated funds as part of their fundraising effort to pave the southern portion of the Betsie Valley Trail to Thompsonville, a project expected to cost $3 million.

About Our Grant Program

Thank you for your interest in a Cherry Capital Cycling Club Grant.

The Mission of the Cherry Capital Cycling Club is to promote a cycling community as part of a healthy lifestyle. This mission shall be accomplished by:
a) conducting rides and other bicycling events
b) providing social opportunities for members
c) promoting bicycle safety
d) supporting local, state, and national bicycling and trail organizations
e) advocating for increased cycling support among the public, government agencies and elected officials

Our two, one-day tours, the Ride Around Torch and the Leelanau Harvest Tour enables the CCCC to conduct a productive and meaningful grant program supporting bicycling projects that promote bicycling as part of a healthy lifestyle. We award grants to organizations for projects that support this mission.

Since 1999 the CCCC has proudly granted over $400,000 to local organizations seeking to do projects like this.

The Club has one grant review cycle each year. Providing that sufficient funds are available from the above rides, we accept applications for grants between February 1 through March 31, and announce award decisions shortly after May 15. We send Agreement Letters to all awardees. Upon return of those signed agreements, we mail the award checks.
