Trust me - this trail is worth the drive!

Join me for an exploration of The Dragon - a fantastic MTB trail network just outside of Big Rapids. Yes, it's a little bit of a drive. Yes, it can be a little challenging. And yes, (IMO) it's just about the most interesting trail in lower Michigan!

We'll meet up at the parking lot of the Newago State Park campground at 9am. Make sure your vehicle has a Recreation Pass and parking will be free. Most of the other parking areas around the pond require access fees.

The most technical part of segment 7 remains bypassed, and will be for quite some time yet due to restoration work following the heavy rains earlier this year. All other segments are open.

I'm intending to loop around Hardy Pond CCW - which is roughly 45 miles and should take somewhere around 4 hours to complete. The trail is bidirectional, so out-and-backs in either direction for shorter distances are also fair game.
