About this event
This is primarily for the benefit of those fantastic volunteers who are working next weekend (thank you!), or for those CCCC club members who simply can't make it on the 19th.
Join me for a pre-ride of the brand new Chain-o-Lakes Century route. The M-88 reopening as of July 8th has allowed us to avoid re-routing the 63 mile course, so the emphasis on this ride has changed to exploring the new 105 mile route.
We'll meet at the public parking lot off of Cedar St and begin @ 7:30am. This is a No Drop ride - we will regroup periodically as needed to ensure nobody gets left behind. However, it's long AND unlike next weekend there are no wonderful food stops or SAG vehicles to rely on! Bring snacks and a 2nd water bottle, and make sure you have your spare tube with you. If your steed is electrified, make sure you've got enough juice to get you back to Elk Rapids! There ARE a few convenience stores, and public restrooms along the way, which we will avail ourselves if needed...
15 mph will be the target avg pace - a little faster on the flats, a little slower on the climbs. This should have us back in Elk Rapids by 3pm. And while there's no picnic waiting for us, the 1st round at the Short's Pull Barn is on me...
NOTE: The RwGPS link is for the ERHS departure and Veterans Park finish - while we're starting from downtown, we should sync up to the navigation cues as we pass by the school turn-off...
And while I intend to lead a Century ride, if you'd prefer to pursue the classic 63 mile route instead, this option will also be available. Tom Morrell has agreed to lead this group. The RwGPS file for this alternate route may be found at:
