4 night/3 day cycling tour of Manitoulin Island, Ontario.

Arriving Sunday, the 26th of July, departing on Thursday, the 30th. This allows for a 4 night stay, with 3 full days of riding or other sightseeing activities available. We have made arrangements with the Manitoulin Inn in Mindenoya, who are offering a special room rate for club members. They have a total of 18 recently remodeled rooms, many overlooking Lake Mindenoya. There are also a number of campgrounds in and around Mindenoya if that sounds more interesting to you.

Mindenoya is advantageous in that it’s centrally located on the island, and is fairly close to a number of attractions. Each day of riding can be different, with a variety of destinations and distances available. The island as a whole is a popular tourist destination, particularly so with cyclists as the roads are in great shape and the traffic is light and respectful. Late July is their peak season, with generally excellent weather and minimal bugs (so I’m told!). Because of this, if you intend to participate, make your reservations as soon as possible as virtually all options will be sold out next summer.

For Manitoulin Inn reservations, call them directly at 1.877.270.0551 and state that you’re with the Cherry Capital Cycling Club (or reference my name) and you’ll be included in the group rate. Their website is www.manitoulininn.ca Rate quotes are as follows:
Single Queen bed, 1 adult: $225/night (CAD)
Single Queen bed, 2 adults: $235/night
2 Queen bed room, 2 adults: $250/night

While they do not allow bikes in the rooms, they have a locked garage that will be available to us for storage needs. Note that as of this posting, all 18 rooms are available – but are sure to fill up well in advance of next summer. They do allow a penalty-free cancellation, but have requested at least a month's notice to allow rebooking.

A variety of RwGPS road and gravel routes will be developed prior to the trip, so stay tuned..
